A Message from Jeffrey Nursey

The Future Starts Today

If you are not moving forward, you are falling behind.

That’s what I have always believed, and it is certainly an important lesson from this past year- a year marked by a global pandemic, social unrest, economic hardship, and uncertainty in what the future holds.

Of course lessons from the past are important, but we can’t live our lives looking in the rearview mirror of the past.

The future starts today. Your future starts today. Moving forward in a positive direction means for me getting my ducks in a row. Have you got your ducks in a row? Here is one definition and then I have an example-Let's start with the definition. To get one's ducks in a row basically means to ensure all of the small details or elements are accounted for and in their proper positions before embarking on a new project.

“To have one's ducks in a row” implies preparedness and efficiency. A salesman may “have his or her ducks in a row” by deliberately putting together his or her sales presentation and making a list of qualified prospects. A chef may “have his or her ducks in a row” by carefully preparing ingredients and adding them to a dish in a specific order.

I am a firm believer in what Ralph Waldo Emerson so elegantly said, “If a man can write a better book, preach a better sermon or make a better mouse trap than his neighbors, though he builds his house in the woods, the world will make a beaten path to his door.” He does not say that we have to do something new but just be better. If you are in the food industry I ask that you WOW your guests with super service and incredible edibles.

Whatever business you are in be 20 percent better…

I want to encourage you to dream big dreams. My actions should inspire you to do more, to dream more, to learn more and to become more.

You have greatness inside of you so go out and be the change that you want to see in the world.

Jeff Nursey employed as Director of Food and Beverage overseeing the Arlington, Texas Park and the Garland, Texas Park.

Key Management review : Walt Hawrylak the Vice president and General Manager of the Texas parks. Today is Thursday, November 30, 1989 and I am doing the annual review of Jeff Nurseys key management performance evaluation. Jeff was hired on November 19, 1986 and has been in this position for 3 years.

Jeff has had an excellent three years as the Food and Beverage Director for the two Texas parks. In his tenure year after year several milestones were achieved:

  1. The highest Food Service revenue dollars ($ 1,997,500.00) achieved since opening of the Texas Park in 1983
  2. Lowest food cost percentage (28.6 %) since park opening
  3. The best gross profit per cap since park first opened
  4. Lowest turnover in food service employees
  5. Customer satisfaction was recorded at an all-time high on exit polls.

Jeff can be extremely proud of his accomplishments.

  • During this past operating season, Jeff continued to grow as a leader and in his management style. He did an excellent job training his Assistant Food Service supervisors.
  • Jeff is eager and willing to take action whenever the situation arises. He has a stellar grasp on the over-all Food Service operation and has set very high goals for himself as to what end the results should be.
  • Willingness to assume and discharge the obligations of the position is one of Jeff’s strongest management skills. Jeff has a very high energy level almost to the point of being hyperactive. He is very eager to tackle his job and whatever else is thrown at him.
  • Attitude is always appears to be very positive even under very trying circumstances.
  • In summary Jeff has a very high level of motivation and excellent knowledge of Food Service operations in theme parks.
  • Jeff is very dedicated to Wet’nWild.
  • Jeff can improve in these areas: slow down and be patient and improve his written communication skills.
  • Having never been involved in a theme park prior to joining Wet’n Wild, Jeff has consistently performed above average and is to be commended for his admirable job in managing the profitability and the quality of the Food Service Department.
  • During the off season, Jeff is responsible for the menu, selection, menu pricing and vendor selection for the Arlington and Garland parks.
  • As for advancement: Jeff clearly exceeds the job requirements the results were beyond those planned and expected.

Additional Comments: Jeff has been a tremendous asset to our company over the past three years. I expect nothing less than excellence. As Jeff takes the knowledge learned and applies it moving forward, I expect to continue to see great strides in our Food Service operation. I have no doubt that with Jeff’s drive and aggressiveness he will continue to be a rock solid star. I applaud Jeff for his accomplishments and thank him for his efforts.

Wet’nWild is fortunate to have Jeff Nursey in our employ.

Letter of Recommendation for Jeffrey Nursey

January 9, 2021

To Whom It May Concern

I have owned the TCBY yogurt store on Bayou Boulevard, in Pensacola, Florida for 19 years. I commissioned Jeffrey Nursey to manage it for about 1 year under his Creative Food and Fun organization. He was responsible for day to day sales and management of all cost of goods purchases and human resources. Jeff was instrumental in marketing and increased our sales to bring the store to the 5th leading increase year on year sales among all the TCBY franchises. During this time he brought in new yogurt flavors, improved our topping bar and kept the store immaculately clean and our customer counts went up despite the COVID 19 scare. He implemented all the CDC and state of Florida guidelines for restaurant’s and safety and prepared the employee safe practices during this time. He made daily cash deposits to the bank and the account balanced to the penny for the first time in years. He has a very pleasant personality and is the most affable person that you will ever meet. I can recommend Jeff without reservation and would be happy to discuss with anyone Jeff Nursey.

Letter of Recommendation

January 15, 2021

It is with great pleasure I recommend Jeffrey A. Nursey for any leadership position in any organization. He is one of the most extraordinary people I have encountered in 30 years of working in the food industry.

My name is Mitch Johnson and I owned and operated Eastside Grille in Montgomery, Alabama for over 16 years, only closing it because the landlord increased my lease terms, making it not feasible. As the owner of a business, and because of our highly competitive applicant pool, letters of recommendation held substantial weight in our hiring decisions. I took it upon myself to write this letter for Jeffrey who, in my opinion, is an asset to any organization.

I have personally known Jeffrey for over a decade. I worked with him directly on many functions in the capacity of an event planner and catering sales professional and as Chef and Kitchen Manager. He is stellar at whatever task it is that he takes on. I can say that he was always one step ahead of me. I would think of things that needed to be done and Jeff was already instrumental in making things happen. As an example, one time we fell behind financially with our food distributor and Jeff took it upon himself to negotiate new and favorable terms. It was a win-win situation for my company and the nationally known full-service distributor. I can tell you that he is well organized and a forward thinker. He is comfortable making a sales presentation to one person or to one hundred people. If he does not know how to do a project, he consults with the someone with the skill set to complete the project, learning and enhancing his skill set along the way.

He has a kind heart and sole, and I have personally witnessed Jeffrey giving his last dollar to someone in need.

Should you like, I would be happy to further discuss Jeff. I can be reached via my cell phone above. Kind regards,

Re: Jeffrey Alan Nursey

If you are lucky enough to work with Jeff Nursey, I am confident that anything that he touches will be successful. I say that with confidence and integrity as I have seen firsthand everything he touches prospers and grows. He is a team player and builds bridges in business and in the local communities that he is involved.

I have personally known Jeff for over thirty years and has always been reliable, dependable and a man of his word. I would not hesitate to recommend him for any position. I met Jeff when he was 18 years old and opened his first full service deli and catering company in Pensacola. In a couple of short years we did a joint venture on Pensacola Naval air station with his food truck that turned out to be very lucrative. It was my contacts that landed the contract on the base but it was Jeff’s energy and experience that made it fruitful. In 1985 he sold out and relocated to Arlington, Texas to take a mid-level position in management overseeing the second highest volume TGI Fridays in the USA.

In 1986 Jeff was recruited as the Food and Beverage director at Wet’ n Wild, Arlington, Texas. Jeff has a charisma and has an affable personality that people want him on their team. I recall learning from Jeff this valuable lesson. “he said that whenever I go into any meeting or exchange that I should always look for ways that all parties can win, and never try and leave an exchange where someone feels taken advantage of or devalued.” I have practiced that my whole life and it’s been the foundation of my success.

I can also say that when I have questions or need advice on business related matters it is not uncommon for me to reach out to him. If I can say one thing that I see in him it is “the light that shines out of his eyes blinds people and he is on fire all the time.” He has a passion for people and I am proud to say he is my friend.

Jeff has a learner mindset rather than an expert one. I think that learners are interested in new ways to solve problems and experts can’t wait to tell you the answer. Jeff is a life-long learner. If anyone has any questions about his character and abilities I can be reached via my cell phone at 850-207-6621.

Sincerely,

Anthony Jacobs
